Cigarettes Are Killers

Jimmy Smith
Cigarettes are terrible little things that kill millions of people every year. Why do people still smoke them? They are addictive, in fact they are more addictive than anything, and any drug. Cigarettes are more addictive then crack, heroin, cocaine, alcohol, methamphetamines and pretty much any other drug you can think of. Cigarettes kill you, and they have absolutely no benefit except for the fact that you get your fix satisfied.

Cigarettes are killing people by giving them all kinds of cancer and diseases. Heart attacks, strokes, and other serious life threatening situations can occur as a result of cigarette smoking.

It is all over the T.V now people are going to the limit with these cigarette ads and the fact that you can't smoke inside anymore in some states. In New Jersey, it's illegal to smoke in a car with your children in it. I mean this smoking thing is turning into a serious health epidemic here. Apparently people are dying from smoking that never even smoked, so just inhaling the fumes from somebody close by could kill you over time.

The reason they aren't illegal and the reason people still smoke them is that they are just so powerfully addictive. People just get completely hooked on cigarettes and then they can't quit. It's big business too, because the ultimate product is something that is addictive and will always sell no matter what, even if it kills people.

People still smoke even after they get a serious disease like lung cancer or emphysema or after a heart attack. People will go outside to smoke, in places that the can't smoke and miss important things because of cigarettes. People will stand outside in the freezing cold, sick as a dog, with a cigarette, because they are so addictive. Nicotine is one of the most powerfully addictive substances to ever be discovered. Yet, cigarettes are still sold in stores and the tobacco companies keep getting richer and richer off of the cigarette consumers.

Cigarettes contain over three thousand chemicals in trace amounts, many are highly poisonous and some like ingredients like banana peels may make you scratch your head. Most people are aware of the poisons that are in cigarettes and there are many list on-line for people to read about the ingredients of cigarettes. Here is a list of additives in cigarettes that will either make you scratch your head or look away in disgust, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_additives_in_cigarettes.

In closing, the day cigarettes are taken off the shelf, will be a day that the American people will be a healthier people, and this is a proven fact. It should be noted that smokers will always smoke, whether it be illegally or legally, and an underground cigarette trade similar to the current drug trade would be interesting. Cigarettes taken off the shelves of stores, however, would discourage the masses from smoking. More people's lives would be saved, less heart and lung diseases would prevail over us as a people and a healthier society would be a result.
