Cigarettes and Marijuana, Why Are Cigarettes Legal?

Amb
Millions of people smoke cigarettes. It is unfortunate that I happen to be part of this statistic. Being a smoker, we know the dangers that come with smoking. We know that we can develop serious lung and throat problems or cancer. Most smokers though, don't know some of the products that are in the cigarette they are smoking. Let's start by naming nicotine. Nicotine is probably the only ingredient in a cigarette that a person will remember. It is the most addictive substance in the tobacco. There is more to a cigarette than nicotine and tobacco. For instance if you smoke did you know that you are smoking ammonia, acetone, benzene(used as a solvent in fuels), and carbon monoxide. There's a list of ingredients that go on for days. Can you imagine actually bringing a flame near those ingredients. You might blow up! So tell me something, why are they legal? I mean, I understand that alcohol can kill you but thats only due to being too intoxicated or getting behind the wheel. The purpose of the drinking age is to make sure that more mature people who should understand their limits can drink but young kids who just want to party can't. Even now though, adults do not know their limits or they just don't follow the rules. There are many deaths caused by driving while intoxicated.

I believe cigarettes are a silent killer. If you think your fine and you can just smoke however many cigarettes you want without anything ever happening, your wrong. This is where I get confused. Why is Marijuana illegal? Alcohol messes with the mind way worse than marijuana. Even cigarettes are worse than marijuana. There has never been a reported death of a marijuana (cannabis) overdose. It is now being used medically, religiously, and for recreational use. Marijuana's main ingredient is tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. Cannabis has been found to prevent from excitotoxicity. Excitotoxicity is when neurons are damaged or killed. When a person smokes marijuana they may feel a bit nervous but depending on how much they smoke they may not feel that way. If a person has been smoking for a long time they may only feel happy, giggly, slow, and hungry. I mean smoking marijuana is not for someone who needs to write a three page paper. Nor is it for driving around smoking it. It distorts your ming somewhat but not so much that if something happened you couldn't think logically. If you have never smoked weed you don't know so you shouldn't judge people because they do. People who use it regularly might use it just o relax at night. So tell me, if there are so many deaths accompanied with alcohol and cigarettes than why is marijuana illegal? Alcohol intoxicates a person and distorts their minds way more than marijuana could so why is it legal? Just because drinking is popular? Well marijuana is popular too and doesn't come with all the deaths that alcohol and cigarettes come with.

Personally I believe the government needs to rethink their choices because they don't make sense. Why would something that could kill you be legal? On another note there are some bad things that occur due to marijuana. Smoking marijuana can cause memory loss, increased heartrate, severe headaches, nasuea, vomiting, and difficulty thinking. That usually only occurs when a person smokes too much. Marijuana can also be ingested. People have been known to put marijuana in brownies, cookies, tea, cake, etc. A good majority of marijuana users smoke it. There are many ways to smoke it. You can use papers, blunts, dutches, wraps, bowls, pipes, bongs, apples, etc. Todays generation mainly focuses on bowls and blunts. Back in the 70's joints were the most popular. Even to this day older marijuana users prefer papers over anything else.

I think i need to take this to federal court, but last year cigarettes produced 25 billion dollars in tax money, but caused 125 billion in medical care and treatment. Wheres the common sense there?

the real reasom behind as to why ciggarettes are legal is because the government makes a large mount of money from the tax on ciggarettes, and this is also the same reason why alcohol is legal due to the governments sheer greed. Pot isnt legal because far less people smoke it thus meaning that the governement would'nt make a large revenue from the taxation on pot. Its funny it almost seems as if the government are concetrating on those leathal substances such as alcohol and ciggarettes which both have a higher death toll than weed. Infact no records show that weed has killed anyone, unless an individual is stoned while drving but then again drink driving kills as well and drink is legal.

(continued 2) The government won't make any tax money off of it and the big companies who actually will pay the taxes for it won't generate the sales needed to profit from it. Zig Zag would be a multi billion dollar company though. If the government were smart they would save the $37,000,000,000 they've spent just within this year on the "War on Drugs" which compared to Vietnam has spilled more casualties, cost more money, and been even less pointless to fight. They make money off the 1,364,000 people that are being kept in state facilities due to drug charges. For each institution that holds prisoners, the prison makes money to support the needs of that prisoner, so the feds pay the state boys to hold them. As this is happening there are rules for how many prisoners each prison can claim for that year so inmates are held at "transfer" facilities where the prisoners aren't actually counted as being in prison for the first 2 years of their sentence. This is so there is still room in the

Alright well people keep on asking why are cigarettes legal and weed illegal. Truth is as a person who smokes both, smoking in general is bad for your health. Period. Weed or cigarettes. The human body is not designed to breathe in unburned particles and has no means of actually filtering out carcinogens located in the smoke i.e. carbon-monoxide benzapyrene etc... So no matter how much you don't want to believe it, smoking anything is bad for your health. If you want to ingest weed and still feel the effects without any damage to your body, eat baked goods made with weed, no side effects for that. Now, cigarettes were a cash crop and helped provide funds for America in its early days when we were still a colony. The money gained in tobacco helped finance the revolutionary war and other wars to come. The reason weed is illegal and cigarettes are legal is quite simple. Money. Money makes the world go round, don't believe me? Try not going to work for the rest of the year and keeping your

Woo marijuana isn't hallucinogenic it's psychoactive meaning it's all in the head, much like after you finish something amazing and you feel that rush of excitement cause you just made something to be proud of. Don't feed into the bullshit, live YOUR life not THEIRS.

Don't forget selenium and polonium also both radioactive are found in all tobacco. Why so that way bugs "don't" eat the plant. But however marijuana is a natural pesticide, meaning you don't have to waste money on polonium or selenium. Ohh did I also mention radon, kinda left that out.

Just to let you know nicotine isnt actually addicting its the other additives, not the nicaotine it self. Yes when people quite smoking and go crazy its from the withdraws of nicotine, but it itself isnt addicting.
