Cinco De Mayo Fiesta At-Home

Mike C.
Cinco de Mayo is a celebration held on May 5 of every year. Instead of running out to a local Restaurant or Bar to throw down some burritos and tequila shots, consider having your own Cinco de Mayo Fiesta!

To begin, let's brainstorm about foods. Your Cinco de Mayo can have simple and cheap "finger foods" like tacos, quesadillas, tortilla chips and salsa, empanadas, nachos, served with spanish rice, refried beans, black beans. You can make fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, fajitas, chile rellenos, and enchiladas. You can make this as easy or extravagant as you want, especially if you want to showcase your creative cooking abilities.

Now for my favorite part, the celebration drinks! Margaritas are classic Cinco de Mayo beverages. In addition, you can have tequila shots, beer such as Corona, Dos Equis, Tecate, etc. Also serve non-alcoholic drinks like Jarritos and Horchata. (Remember to keep your guests safe; no drunk driving!)

You can't have a Cinco de Mayo party without setting the mood. That means bring out the Mexican music and party decorations! Put on your sombreros and turn up the local Latino music station, mp3s, or satellite radios. Make maracas, hang pinatas, bring out the big Mexican candles to burn.

Invite all your family, friends, and neighbors and share a perfect opportunity to party, celebrate, and share the Mexican culture behind May 5, Cinco de Mayo.
