On the morning of August 31, 2011, I received an invitation to study the Bible via Facebook. It wasn't the first invitation I'd ever received for an event, and it probably won't be the last, but this was the first time I excitedly clicked to join a Bible study group.
The group which started as a simple request to really "dig deep" into God's word grew exponentially through-out the day. When I first enlisted among the Bible study recruits there were a little over 100 other students, by the end of the day that number was pressing close to 1,000.
The group is administered by author, and public speaker Cindy Colley. Cindy Colley has written numerous books, including the bestselling Bible studies series "Women of Genesis", "Women of Troubled Times" and "Women of Deliverance." Cindy is also the author of the blog "Bless Your Heart." Cindy speaks to women across the country several times a year, and is one of the most requested speakers for ladies days among the churches of Christ. The group is also administered by Lori Lynn Rives, and Amber Gilreath.
In the past 15 years I have been blessed to hear her speak twice. She is both an encouraging speaker and a fearless proclaimer of the gospel of Christ. Because I've had the opportunity to hear her speak, joining her group took no thought on my part. It was just a point and click maneuver. As soon as I joined, I immediately invited all of my friends. I didn't care what particular views of God my friends held, I knew this group was something that would be beneficial for everyone. I even sent an invitation to a good friend of mine who is a Buddhist. Why? Studying God's word, really studying it, with an open mind is an amazing treasure hunt for wisdom.
The "Digging Deep Into God's Word" program is a full year of study. The goal of the group is to really educate themselves with Bible knowledge. Students are given several assignments each month. Most of the assignments can be completed by simply using the Bible, but there are a few lessons that use materials outside of the Bible in conjunction with the Bible. One great asset of the group is the ability to converse with other students in the group. It is a place to study and share what you learn from God's word.
The program covers a calendar year from September first to September first. On her blog, Cindy has laid out the course of study under the heading "How to Dig Deep for the Meat of the Word," and while this study isn't for the faint of heart, it is perfect for serious Bible students who want to really learn about the Bible. It is my greatest desire that the reach of this study will blossom and grow to surpass everyone's expectations, as well as help us all to learn a lot more about the Bible.

Post a CommentWhat a wonderful opportunity and method of sharing God's Holy Word. If I weren't already immersed in one this would be a good choice. Modern technology--who knew how it could help in spreading the Word of God--simply awesome.
Sounds like a great group. Thanks for sharing.
If you're doing the Digging Deep in God's Word study, try using the free pc version of the Kindle from Amazon. You're able to download the Bible for free, and then highlight the passages and take notes right in the text.
Thanks Ruth! It looks like a great program, and I am really excited about it.
Great job, my dear friend! I am going to join the group today. Thanks for all of your encouragement. :)
