Cinnamon, Cloves and Ginger for Good Health and Delicious Cookies

Cinnamon, Cloves and Ginger Alone or Combined Offer More Than Just Good Flavor to Cookies, Cakes and Pies

Cinnamon and ginger are soothing to your stomach. Cinnamon is also used to ease discomfort of menopause, chest, back and neck pain.

Cloves have a mild antiseptic effect that is great for a home-style treatment for toothache. Clove tea can be made by steeping the buds in boiling water and used to cure nausea and excessive gastritis.

Ginger is great for controlling nausea and stimulates the digestive system. Ginger can regulate blood cholesterol and improve circulation.

The most delicious way to take advantage of these wonderful spices is to combine them together with a few other ingredients and bake them into delicious ginger cookies.

This cookie recipe is requested often by family and friends.

Crinkled Ginger Sugar & Spice Cookies

¾ cup Shortening or butter

½ cup White sugar

½ cup White sugar

¼ cup Molasses

2 Cups Flour

2 Teaspoons Baking soda

¼ Teaspoon Salt

1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

¾ Teaspoon Ground cloves

¾ Teaspoon Ground ginger

1 to 2 cups powdered sugar in a bowl for rolling the cookies.

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees:

In a large bowl combine sugar, shortening, eggs and molasses. Fold in the dry ingredients and mix to form a cookie dough. Scoop teaspoons of dough and roll into walnut size balls. Roll the balls in powdered sugar and place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. ( I use a baking mat cookie sheet liner, and my cookies never get too brown on the bottom and will not stick.)

Bake in a 350 degree pre-heated oven for 10-12 minutes. Yields about 2 dozen cookies.

Store cooled cookies in plastic containers to keep them moist. If you prefer a harder cookie just let them cool and store them in a paper bag.
