Cinnamon Okra Gumbo Recipe: Perfect Side Veggie for Your Holiday Ham Dinner
A Family Okra Recipe from Oklahoma
Whenever we have guests for dinner over the holidays, people always ask for this recipe because it is so tasty and different. This recipe has been in my mother-in-law's family for generations. We hope you enjoy this Cinnamon Okra Gumbo Recipe with your Honey Glazed Ham on your Christmas Dinner table. (click here for our great honey glazed ham recipe)
Cinnamon Okra Gumbo Recipe
1 large package frozen okra (or 2 quarts fresh okra)
1 onion chopped
1 can chopped tomatoes
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp mustard
1 Tbsp sugar
½ cup ketchup
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
Put okra and onion in large skillet and cook until slightly brown.
Add remaining ingredients.
Cover and simmer for about an hour.
Adjust ingredients to taste.
