Circles of Rhyme

David Lanier

Circles of time, circles of rhyme,
circles of love and life.
Stories of pain, stories of gain,
stories of war and strife.
Dreams of worlds, dreams of girls,
dreams of stars and night.
Echoes of faces, echoes of places,
echoes of forgotten rites.
Mysterious clouds, mysterious shrouds,
mysteries hidden by tears.
Forgotten smiles, forgotten miles,
forgotten over the years.
Thoughts of anger, thoughts of danger,
thoughts of worried fear.
Memories of joys, memories of ploys,
memories no one hears.
These make of me a man, who i am,
make me continue to dream.
These show me knowing,
i'm always growing,
Show me it ain't what it seems.
