Circus

Ever Been to the Circus? It's a Great Place to Be...Great Place Indeed

David Carr
I bought my tickets yesterday
But the circus just left town
It looks as though I missed the train
And the worlds turned right side down

It comes as no surprise
And the look within your eyes
Tells me everything I need to know

Summer camp has ended
And there's no use in pretending
The time has come for you and I to go...

The pump organ player
Has left his seat
And the trapeze artists are gone

The popcorn machine
Has broken down
And I'm just not sure what went wrong

One thing I know for sure
Is that my feelings towards you were pure
And the moments that we shared will always be

The kind of memories
That fills my heart with joy
Like the circus did when I was just a teen...

I'll put away my ticket
And save it for a rainy day
In the hopes that the circus comes around again

I'll leave my hope by the door
And images of forevermore...
Will resonate in my heart, as it mends...
