Circus Themed Wedding Favors

Many newly engaged couples are looking for fresh, fun, and unique themes for their wedding ceremonies. Having a wedding based around a certain theme allows couples to showcase unique aspects of their personalities and provide guests with a memorable event to attend. One offbeat, eccentric wedding theme is that of a circus or carnival wedding. While this type of ceremony isn't for everyone, many circus lovers will find that planning a circus themed wedding is tons of fun. Here are some ideas for favors that brides and grooms could hand out to guests at a wedding with a circus twist.

When you visit a circus, you'll notice that everything is colorful and whimsical, so you will want to choose favors that are also bright. One wedding trend is to have a candy bar, or a candy buffet, set up at the reception. At the candy bar, guests are allowed to fill up favor boxes with whatever they'd like from the buffet. Cover the table with linens that match the color scheme of the circus wedding reception, or go with a red and white striped tablecloth. Drape strands of circus flags over the table against the wall, if the candy bar is against a wall. For a candy bar with a circus twist, make sure there are plenty of brightly colored candies from which to choose in clear containers of various sizes to add contrast and visual appeal. Make sure there is a label on each jar which can be attached to a colorful ribbon. If you or a friend is crafty, you can make an interesting looking decoration (or several) to spruce up the candy bar table. In topiary vases, fashion a small "topiary" out of small round lollipops which are rooted in styrofoam craft balls. You could also add balloon sculptures or centerpieces to the table to fill in any extra space not being used for candy. Ideas of items to stock on the candy bar are spiral rainbow-colored lollipops, rock candy in red and yellow, multi-colored packaged chocolate candies, circus peanuts, various flavors of popcorn, and gumballs.

Circus themed favor boxes include empty popcorn boxes or animal cracker-styled favor boxes. There are a number of ways to personalize wedding favors to fit in with this theme as well. Many commercial companies offer favors that can be personalized with the bride's and groom's names and the date of the wedding, such as personalized bags of cotton candy.

I suppose there are some happy clowns or ballerinas that would just love this sort of thing! :) Seriously, though, maybe a circus would be great - could set up the tent and have an arena for the dancing. Perfecto!
