Neighborhood: Ferndale
Ferndale, MI 48220
United States of America
Ferndale's City Council has adopted a resolution making Sept. 17, 2010 Citizenship Day and the week of September 17-23, 2010 as Constitution Week in the city of Ferndale. The resolution was passed at the request of the Ezra Parker Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The Ezra Parker Chapter was formed in 1927 in Royal Oak.

Jacqueline Seymour, the Constitution Chairman of the Ezra Parker Chapter, wrote a letter to Mayor Covey pointing out that, in 1955, the U.S. Congress approved a resolution making the week of Sept. 17-23 annually as Constitution Week. The resolution was approved to recognize the significance of the Constitution and the role it plays in the life of every American.

Ferndale's resolution went one step further, recognizing the first day of Constitution Week as Citizenship Day. The resolution was adopted unanimously.
