City of Ferndale Police Blotter

A woman who robbed at bank in Ferndale has possibly been caught in Wyandotte. The woman walked into the Charter One Bank in Ferndale and handed a note over to the teller demanding money. She was wearing dark sunglasses and sported a ponytail. After the teller handed over some cash, she left on foot and was most likely stained by the dye pack which exploded with the money.

Apparently, police believe the same woman may have robbed four other banks in the downriver area. The suspect whom police arrested is 32 and lives in Wyandotte. The Ferndale Police have indicated that the suspect may have made use of the same tactics when robbing banks in Lincoln Park, Wyandotte, Allen Park, and Westland. Police have also indicated that the FBI will handle the investigation due to the number of banks involved and the various cities which were hit.

Ferndale Police apprehended a man who robbed the Rite Aid on Woodward, just south of Nine Mile Road, after a mile-long chase. According to police, the man walked into the Rite Aid at about 10:30 in the morning and used a handgun to hold up the cashier. After leaving in a Ford Bronco, the cashier called police who saw the Bronco speeding off from the area.

Police chased the man through Ferndale's neighborhoods until the man eventually crashed his Bronco going the wrong way on Eight Mile Road in an attempt to elude police. He still wasn't done as he tried to escape on foot, but was eventually hit by an unmarked police car and taken to Royal Oak Beaumont for evaluation. He only suffered minor injures, but he was arraigned on five charges and the magistrate set a $1 million cash bond.
