City of Good Neighbors

Where the (City of Buffalo) Roam

Jessica Favata
It flows down streets and grass

Consuming the entire city

The dirt and grit of our lives

Passes over cobblestone roads and cracked pavement

Flowing into our water and our homes

And our lives

And we keep going back to those places where we feel dirty

And the green grass is turned to brown

And the rivers are wastelands

And our footsteps leave imprints

On the hardwood floors of those places

Where we get dirty

We wear white to a wedding

And black to a funeral

But walk the same path to the church

In our city of dirt and grit

And Good Neighbors
