City Skyline Silhouette at Dusk
The Day Transitions to Night. Another Universe Gets It's Daily Time to Exists
Silhouetted against the dimming glow
Of yet another setting of our sun,
One more daytime fades until it's done
To sleep in darkened stillness 'til the dawn
Whence soft or rude awakenings
Illuminate both noble and ignoble undertakings
Uncloaked by the curtain of night
And thus rendered more visible
To unaided human sight.
Deceptively beautiful in transition
While our planet shifts position
Casting the suggestion that the rest
Of the parts of the universe we believe
That we know
Remain as still as the lack of breath
Found finally in the moment of death.
Angles reflect and define
A short string of moments
Sewn together in time.
Prufrock and kittens
Treading ever so lightly across
The narrow window sill
(Where window sills still exist)
As night time dawns
With an opaque blanket
Of it's own
Conflicting terms
Driven by a will that defies
The more emphatic
And obvious
Power of light.

Lovely poem!
Excellent!
Liking it.
I like the line "Where windowsills still exist..."
Did you do the painting as well? Beautiful imagery! Then again I always like your "stuff."
Very good, David.
