Suwanee, GA 30024
United States of America
I was first introduced to the City of Suwanee when they began having Jazz concerts in the Town Center Park. This is a time of music, food and fun! National and Local musicians come together to share their music with the masses and the City supplies fun inflatable games for the kids while local vendors offer such good eats has hot dogs and funnel cakes.
Most recently I had the opportunity to visit the City of Suwanee's City Hall to see a great work of art called "Shimmering Echoes". The display was installed in February and it's made up of suspended sculpture that represents the City of Suwanee's committment to their partnership with the Public Arts Commission. The art can be found suspended from the ceiling of Suwanee's City Hall's grand foyer.
The installations were created by Seattle-based artist Koryn Rolstad who is known for designing environmental art all around the world. When you see the suspended sculpture from first glance you almost think it is part of the City Hall building itself. However once you go to the second level of Suwanee's City Hall, you'll see how the light dances off of the sculpture and cast beautiful colors that is reminiscent of watercolors.
There is no cost associated with viewing these suspended sculptures. They can be viewed anytime from 9 to 5 p.m. when City Hall is open. The City of Suwanee will host several other events from the Toast @ Town Center which includes great food and fun to B at the Movies which allows you to view blockbuster movies on a mega screen right on the lawns of Town Center Park. Now that puts a twist on the drive in movie concept for sure!
Check online at www.suwanee.com to view the latest events as they are subject to change. The City of Suwanee is by far one of the greatest places to find free, fun and family oriented events.
