There is no need to be afraid of allergy medication in the 21st century; Claritin is the first non-sedating over the counter antihistamine. Where Bendaryl is known for making you drowsy, unable to concentrate and a danger to yourself and others if you're driving, Claritin takes the haze away and makes your life "Claritin Clear." If you're self treating your allergies or if you've been told by your doctor to take an over the counter antihistamine before, you are a perfect candidate for Claritin.
However if you're treating the allergies of a child that is younger than six years old, you should not take Claritin tablets. There is syrup for children ages 2 years old and older that may be taken in lieu of the tablets. If you're dealing with a child younger than two, you should seek the medical advice of the child's pediatrician before pursuing a treatment.
Also patients who are sensitive to any of Claritin's ingredients should not take the medication. People with asthma should also seek the advice of their pulmonologist before beginning treatment on Claritin. It may in fact be true that Claritin is the right medicine for someone with allergies; they should just speak to their lung care provider before beginning a treatment plan.
Claritin is available at online retailers and wherever over the counter products are sold without a prescription including pharmacies, grocery stores, smaller delis, 7-11 style retailers, gas stations, and anywhere else you can think things like aspirin or laxatives are sold.
I love my Claritin because of the fast acting nature of the product, it's lasting a full day, and it's small tablet size. The only thing I don't like about Claritin is the industrial strength wrappers they're packaged in. You either need someone with super human strength, long nails, scissors, or someone who can find the fold exactly on its spot to open it. But that won't stop me from buying my favorite over the counter allergy medication; Claritin.
