Clash of the Titans Remake Trailer Out on the Internet

The trailer for the remake of the 1981 epic film 'Clash of the Titans' is now out on the Internet. The 'Clash of the Titans' trailer consists of a lot of quick cut scenes of brawny guys in bronze age Greek armor and mythical beasts wrecking mayhem.

And there is a lovely girl in ancient Greek costume whom we assume is Andromeda, the last time played by Judi Bowker, this time played by Alexa Davalos.

'Clash of the Titans' follows the adventures of Perseus, an ancient Greek hero, before played by the handsome Harry Hamlin, now played by the brawny Sam Worthington, who does battle with mythical monsters such as the Medusa and the Kraken in order to save the life of his beloved Andromeda who is slated to be sacrificed. Perseus is helped and hindered by the Olympian gods,

Chief among the Greek gods is Zeus, played in the remake by Liam Neeson, who has big sandals to fill as the role was originally done by the legendary Laurence Olivier. Other gods include Hades, played by Ralph Fiennes, and Poseidon, played by Danny Huston.

One obvious change in the production of the 2010 version of 'Clash of the Titans' is the heavy use of modern special effects technology, including heavy use of animatronics. The 1981 'Clash of the Titans' featured stop motion special effects that had been pioneered by Ray Harryhausen. Stop motion was great for its time, by has a certain herky, jerky visual air to it. The special effects of the modern version of Clash of the Titans seems to be smoother and more "realistic" looking, if the trailer is any indication.

The action style seems to be different between the two films. The 1981 'Clash of the Titans' has a lot of traditional Hollywood sword play that had been around for decades. It looks like the 2010 'Clash of the Titans' will be a lot more extreme in the use of action, with a lot of jumping and falling from great heights and more realistic looking monsters to fight.

The music that accompanies the trailer, by the way, is a remixed version of "The Bird and the Worm" by Used. An original music composes is credited, but it is unknown whether the sound track to the 2010 'Clash of the Titans' will adhere to the classical symphonic horns and drums style or will go with the more modern, more action oriented electric guitar oriented rock, or a combination.

The remake of 'Clash of the Titans' opens on March 26th, 2010.
