Clash of the Titans-Review in 3D

Go See It, but Not in 3D

Michael Grisso
If you enjoyed the old Clash of the Titans movie with Harry Hamlin, the 2010 version definitely turns it up a notch. Thanks to the technology of today it's no surprise that the special effects often mirror other glorified movies like Transformers, but if you're thinking about watching this in 3D don't waste your money.

We happened to view the first showing at 11:50am on April 2nd and when you first put on those Buddy Holly glasses the previews get you ready. However, after the initial credits role and they look like they're right in your face, the rest of the movie is nothing of the sort.

In fact, about half way through I took off those 3D glasses and realized it wasn't much different at all. If you do the same, this Clash of the Titans movie will have a slight blur in certain spots, but you can watch most of it with the naked eye.

If I remember correctly the original Clash of the Titans was around 3 or 4 hours long with tons of storyline. This version cuts everything down to size and in all it lasts 1 hr 50 minutes. The acting is fine, there are a couple parts where the entire audience laughed, and you don't have to worry about any extreme intimate moments.

Even though it's rated PG-13, there really isn't anything in there that would terrify a child under 13 except for the ferry ride in the underworld. It's a little dark for some and there is death, but nothing you would consider out of the ordinary for a PG-13 rating.

If you remember Bubo (the little golden owl), he is only in this version for a moment. Perseus doesn't receive all the gifts from the gods he was given in the original Clash of the Titans, but the setup is much different. I don't want to give everything away, but just a few of the differences.

Actually I'll leave the rest for you to figure out. However, I strongly recommend disregarding the 3D version. I was hoping the Kraken would be right in front of you with the 3D glasses on, but it was pretty much the same.

So if you're ready to check out Clash of the Titans in 3D, be prepared for a disappointment. The good news is the ending leaves the door open for a sequel, depending on how it does at the box office of course.

You're review is well written but I totally disagree. The movie looks like trash and instead of having a story line and actors who can actually act, it has mostly special effects and people who were put in the movie essentially to just look good. Sorry :(
