This Civil Class Action Suit is comprised of two parts, the unfair practice of having associates work off the clock without compensation. The second complaint filing contains any hourly associate that worked past their earned meal break.
Many hourly associates have been subjected to this practice, in Pennsylvania Wal-Mart hourly associates won a Class Action Civil Lawsuit in 2007. The associates were awarded over 60 million dollars in compensation, and there have been many other lesser cases filed against Wal-Mart in the past twelve years. This new Law Suit comes at a time where most outsiders would have speculated that Wal-Mart Corporation would have moved these obstacles once and for all. These are the barriers that stand in their way, and as associates grow weary of this type of treatment-many more Civil Suits will continue to become what Wal-Mart short-sightedness continue to battle.
Letters pertaining to this Class Action Suit were mailed out to every hourly associate throughout the state of South Carolina, and any hourly associate that would like to be excluded from this class-have until May 5, 2008.
There has not been a specific date set by the court for this Class Action Suit; all participants will be notified when pertinent changes occur.
The Wal-Mart Corporation is facing many very pressing and bothersome issues that are disrupting the core image of this retail giant. This Class Action Suit filed in the state of South Carolina against the Wal-Mart Corporation may be no surprise to the associates whom have been a part of the company for so many years. But without a doubt, it may come at a time where the practices of Wal-Mart policies may become a thing of the past.
Great companies are founded and respected by their ability to govern with fairness and civil common sense.

Post a CommentJust a coment to Jason W.- You must be the Walmart Manager these people are complaining about! YES- they ONLY get paid 8.00/hr and THAT is why they are complaining! If these people were salaried employees then Walmart/ Sam's Club could treat these people this way but as a point of law there are Rules for the fair treatment of hourly employees. If you don't want to hear or read these complaints then don't come to a site where these complaints are being made.
BTW- what school did you graduate from? Your use of pronouns and/or contractions is worse than most 5th graders at any local elementary school. Talk about simple minded!
HOW CAN I PUT THIS SO THAT ALL YOU SIMPLE MINDED PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND...IF YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR JOB, FIND ANOTHER ONE. GROW UP AND STOP CRYING ABOUT IT. IT'S WALMART, YOU MAKE 8 DOLLARS AN HOUR AT BEST! I'M SURE IF YOU TRY REALLY HARD YOU CAN FIND ANOTHER GREAT CAREER, TRY A GAS STATION, THEY MIGHT PAY 8.50!!!
I am sorry for your loss, it is a shame that Wal-Mart continues on the same down trodden path that will someday lead to the company demise. Although it seems there are so many people spending money at these stores - this is what keeps them in business, and I must say that Wal-Mart is not the less expensive retail or food store to shop, there are many other venues which have better merchandise and cheaper prices. Thanks for reading this article and leaving your comment, I hope everything goes well for you in the near future.
I WORK AT WALMART FOR 9+ YEAR AND TO WITH A STORE TO TELL.I WAS A ASST. MANAGER FOR 33 MONTH AND I SEEN THE PROUBLEM EVERYONE TALK ABOUT.I SYMPATHIZE WITH THEM ALL. I WAS NOT ONE WHO ACTED LIKE THE BOSS.I FELL THAT IS WHY I WAS FIRED BECOUSE I WOULD NOT KISS BUT!
I can sympathize with all of your pain and frustration about the ill treatment on how Wal-Mart treats its associates. This company acts as though they are doing you a favor to work for them, in retrospect - it is the employees that make the company what it is, and at the present they are not a very good company to work for. I went back to work for Wal-Mart for a second term, and I was treated not like a valued employee, I do not have any positive things to say about this Mega retail company. The present morale of the company is lousy - you can see it and feel it in most of the employees faces, and forget about the pay scale, if you are one of those kiss-ass people, then this is the right company for you. Thanks to everyone who has read this article, God bless you all.
i worked for walmart for twelve years. i want know where to start to tell my storybook. i kwow if you work for walmart you have a book to tell.let me start by saying the managment team. the assistant the department managers the co mangrs the store manager and i can go on and on .there are time when you are treated so bad by them .they want to be the boss at all times. and sometimes it dosent pay to say anything because they think that what ever they say is right.they will even fired you for no reason at all.and they always want the last say so. they are so disrespectful. the open door policy dont mean a dang thing.i can go on and on on and on.
I worked for Wal-Mart for almost six years. I have lost count of the breaks and lunches I lost. Unbelievable how I was treated at times by my higher powers. Also, many things that were automatic termination were just swept under the rug!!! Boy, the stories I could tell. My friend and co-worker at the time actually thought about writing a book entitled " The Days Of Our Lives At Wal-Mart." I only go into the store where I worked occasionally and I am always hearing from my former co-workers what a horror this place has become. And let us not forget open door policy because that is exactly what it is. OPEN DOOR/ EVERY ONE KNOWS EVERYONE'S BUSINESS!!! If you would like to respond, my e-mail is dmcbride01@yahoo.com Smile everyone there is life after Wal-Mart.
I worked for Walmart for five years. In those five years, I have been mistreated with sexual harrassment, not taking breaks, and even working off the clock not just on one occasion, but many. Then they try to bully you into thinking it was your idea. No one should have to work under these conditions, and something has to be done about it. Maybe this will make them wake up and smell the coffee. No one works for free.
