The first year that I began homeschooling, I purchased, Class Lesson Planner by, Christian Liberty Press. I have continued to use the same book year after year and would not want to homeschool without it.
The book sells for about $10, but it is available at Amazon.com for $2, plus shipping and handling. It is now also available on CD-ROM for your home computer. Remember you will only need to buy this book once so that $10 will cost less than one dollar per year if you use it throughout the high school grades.
Class Lesson Planner provides everything to prepare lessons, schedule the school day, and keep accurate records. This book even provides information on the parts of a lesson plan and how to create a lesson plan. The pages tear out and are reproducible which enables you to use it year after year.
How I use the class planner:
Copy the attendance record.
Black-out the dates when there is 'no school', for example, holidays and weekends.
On the remaining days enter a P for present or an A for absent for each day that the child attends or does not attend school.
At the end of each marking period write how many days that your child was present at homeschool.
At the end of the school year review the planner to be sure that you have home-schooled for 180 days (required).
Next, copy the calendars and one for each subject. That means, copy five September calendars, five October calendars and so on. Staple each month together and then write all the lesson plans on each of the calendar dates of the month. Cross off the lesson plans as they are completed.
There is even a page for listing the curriculum that you are using each year. Always complete that section to refer to a curriculum that you enjoyed or to remember not to buy a curriculum that you did not approve of.
Also, utilize the report card form. It keeps all of the student's grades organized. In addition to the report card page there is also a page for transcripts. This will keep track of all of the grades from Kindergarten through High School.
This book also provides much more. There are project worksheets, field trip schedules, daily to do list forms, chore lists, vacation schedules, progress report forms, physician health forms, prayer journals, and award forms. You will not be disappointed with Class Lesson Planner as it is an invaluable resource for homeschooling.
