80's Classic Movies

16 Candles

Being an awkward teenager with a crazy family has never been more hilarious and touching than in this movie of a young girl coming of age. At 15, Samantha finds herself crushing on the most popular boy in school while the geek is crushing on her. If her personal dilemma was not bad, enough it is her 16th birthday and no one in her family remembers! Hilarious exploits and a crazy party culminate in a classic story of high school drama.

Highlander

"There can be only one!" Have you ever wanted to live forever? This film classic of the mid 80's brings to life the secret desires of many people, immortality. There is only one problem, other immortals want to take your head and with it your power! Conner Macleod of the clan Macleod must battle to keep his head with fantastic sword fights and deal with the inevitable loss of loved ones that comes with such a long life. Highlander is an instant favorite that spawned several more movies and a television series.

Fame

Just thinking about this movie will set your feet to tapping and your head to bobbing, "Fame, I'm gonna live forever..." Follow this group of New York teenagers as they struggle with their identity and loneliness while trying to make it big in show business.

Lean on Me

This dramatic film should be on the required watching list for every generation. The lengths an educator would go to create a safe learning environment are outstanding. This movie was even more dramatic due to the fact that it was based on a true story. Joe Clark walked softly and carried a big stick as he wandered the halls of his New Jersey high school with a baseball bat! Great film with a message that is valid today.

Mommie Dearest

Who could ever forget the stunning performance Faye Dunaway gave in this cult favorite about the classic Joan Crawford and the secret abuse she meted out to her daughter. "No wire hangers!" is a line that will travel through the years as each generation cringes with a young child caught in the grip of an insane mother.

I am a WAHM I still have two children at home both of which are teens. I enjoy reading and writing and I am looking for good ways to make money from home.  View profile

They should stop showing "An Inconvenient Truth" and start showing "Lean On Me" to all students, that would spark some positive change in our schools.
