Although Walt Disney is an entertainment company geared toward the children audience, not all Disney movies are ideal for 2 year old kids. Some films tend to have too complex plots or too scary villains. Some don't have characters that are appealing enough for these very young children. Suitable movies for 2 year olds are those with very simple stories, charming characters, eye-candy visuals, and captivating sound and music that are just right for their age.
Interestingly, the delight a children's movie can typically offer transcends the boundaries of time. There are a variety of classic movies from many decades ago that provide ideal entertainment for 2 year old kids. Short film collections tend to have an advantage given the children's short attention span. Yet there are also some full-length features that provide viewing pleasure to these children as well.
"Cinderella" (1950)
With its high production values and classic fairy tale story, the full-length feature "Cinderella" is one of the best-remembered Disney animated movies frequently mentioned in topics about fairy tales and Disney princesses. Aside from the very charming human characters, this movie, based on the popular tale, showcases a variety of cute animals and magical events that can spark children's imagination. From its color palette to its musical offerings, this iconic motion picture piece presents a fantasy-like wonderment for children. It also has musical numbers that offer a delight to toddlers.
"Lady and the Tramp" (1955)
"Lady and the Tramp" features an interesting relationship between the two charming animals: Lady, an uptown dog, and Tramp, a street mutt. Its plot presents a light and pleasant story filled with amusing journeys. There are also other animal characters children may find interesting. From the engaging character animation employed on the film to the old American town backdrop of its story, the film evokes a relaxed and pleasing atmosphere for very young kids to enjoy. This movie also offers a number of touching and captivating musical scenes.
"The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" (1977)
"The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" is a three-part collection showcasing three previously released Disney animated featurettes. These three titles include "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree" (1966), "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day" (1968), and "Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too" (1974). All these are based on A.A. Milne's original "Winnie the Pooh" books. With charming animals coming to life, Winnie the Pooh and his Hundred Acre Wood friends offer stories that celebrate the value of friendship in a very appealing and child-like fashion. Also, this collection of short films doesn't have relatively violent scenes that may be harmful to very young viewers.
"Mickey's Christmas Carol" (1983)
"Mickey's Christmas Carol" is considered one of the beloved classic short films in the Disney Animation Collection. This adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic provides a story that is not too deep or intimidating for very young toddlers. Here, Mickey Mouse, a lovable Disney icon that has captivated the hearts of many generations of children, brings merriment to the holiday celebration as he joins many other popular Disney characters, including Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck.
