White Christmas is one holiday film that has sparked attention for generations. Starring Bing Crosby and an all-star cast, it is a fabulous and memorable film. Filled with excellent acting, singing, and classic dancing, this film is heart warming.

The film is well known for its songs "Sisters" "Snow" and of course "White Christmas". This is also a film that will leave you with the songs in your head throughout the holiday season. It is set in World War II and includes stunning performances by the entire cast.

It's a Wonderful Life-This classic movie is one that can definitely be viewed each holiday season. The 1946 film starring Jimmy Stewart tells the story of a poor man who tried to kill himself one Christmas Eve. Fortunately, his guardian angel saves him and shows how dark the world could be had he not existed in it. This is a beautiful film that shows the value of life and is very family friendly. This film is also only shown on NBC once a year.

A Christmas Story is another Classic Christmas film from 1983. The film is set in the 1940s and includes a little guy who loves chocolate milk and desperately wants a BB gun for Christmas. While everyone seems to think he'll poke his eye out, it doesn't keep him from wishing.

Kids Films

One of the greatest kids' films of all times is A Charlie Brown Christmas. This 1956 TV Classic is probably the most eloquent tale of commercialism turned to Christmas tide. Lucy's Christmas Play frustrates Charlie who always seems to be doing the wrong thing. While even his own dog has turned on him, Charlie manages to rekindle the Christmas spirit by finding the perfect little tree. The highlight of the show is Linus' soliloquy which depicts the Christmas story completely from Scripture. The peanuts characters are still charming and the music is warm and cheerful. This is also only a half hour show and it can certainly be viewed every year.

Another great kid's film is Rudolph, Frosty & Co. The classic characters are unforgettable from the 1960s and 1970s.

Characters including Rudolph, the Abominable Snowman, Jack Frost, and Frosty the Snowman are charming and memorable. These films will be enjoyed for the new generation as well as the old.

The Grinch, especially the old animated classic from 1966 is also an unforgettable film. From nearly ruining Christmas for the Whoville residents, to saving the day through the compassion of a little one, this film definitely teaches of compassion, forgiveness and love.

Other classic films include A Christmas Carol (several different versions), Miracle on 34th street, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Elf, and several others. Another new holiday film that will soon be a classic is the Nativity Story. The film directed by Catherine Hardwicke and written by Mike Rich is a drama that depicts the epic story of the birth of Christ. The tale follows the characters of Mary and Joseph on their way to Bethlehem. The movie is based on the Biblical account of the Nativity Story and the movie account is very similar. There are a few discrepancies however. Viewers have been relieved to find a Christmas film that actually is about the birth of Christ! The film is 101 minutes and is family friendly with a rating of PG. The film has also been noted as dramatic and compelling as it traces the journey of Mary and Joseph from Nazareth to Bethlehem for a census ordained by King Herod.

The journey is over 100 miles through treacherous terrain, while Mary is 9 months pregnant.

The production crew was looking to make an authentic Christmas film. The film was also thoroughly researched and presented from Italy and Morocco. Morocco was chosen for its beautiful variety of unspoiled landscapes which worked quite well for the film.
