Back in the 70s and 80s some of the best rock music was made in my opinion, it was a time of change and the music reflected our lives. Songs by large and small bands touched our lives; some made us cry, laugh, or ponder life.
A band called The Who, talked about "My Generation", how people put us down just because we got around. Its funny how society as a whole does not change people still gossip about people getting around! It's a good song and a rock Icon. Twisted Sister put out a song entitled "We're not gonna take it" and well it spoke too many of us on different levels.
Lynyrd Skynyrd made us all sing about "Sweet Home Alabama" and told the men folk to be a "Simple Man." How many of us wanted to venture down there and see Alabama because this band sang about it? "Detriot Rock City" by Kiss is a song that makes us want to travel to the motor city.
Blonde sang about a "Heart of Glass", and ZZ Top sang about "Legs". AC DC sang about "Big Balls", and Janis Joplin gives you "A Piece of My Heart"
Don't forget about love, Three dog Night wanted to tell us about "An old fashioned Love song" while a band named Kiss sang "I was made for loving you". "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd is a total empowerment song in my way of thinking its walking away with your head held high.
Bad Company sang about a "Rock and Roll Fantasy" while the Righteous Brothers "Rock and Roll Heaven." Don McClean wrote "American Pie" that is about the day the music died and Queen sang about "Another one bites the dust". That's where rock music should be, in our fantasies, our waking hours, in heaven and every facet of our lives.
If these songs are among your favorites then please check out the playlist on youtube I created. It's linked below.
Special Thanks to Theresa Leschmann for making sure the play list worked okay.
