I count The Moody Blues as my all time favorite classic rock band and have followed their music for over forty years. I have been lucky enough to spend time with each member of The Moody Blues over the years. I met Mike Pinder in Las Vegas, Nevada some years back. His shining personality and way with words impressed me as quickly as his music always had. In meeting Mike, I came to find out more about his own company, One Step Records, and saw that Mike was still involved in promoting peace through music.

Mike Pinder was a founding member of the rock band, The Moody Blues in the 1960s. He is a Singer and Songwriter and his list of classic rock songs go well beyond those he wrote for The Moody Blues. His amazing mastering of the Mellotron was second to none. Mike created spacey visual music with the Mellotron that brought about a change in the over all sound of many classic rock bands. The Beatles were introduced to the Mellotron by Mike. They were so impressed by it that it was used in their Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. Mike Pinder is a brilliant pioneer in rock music and the movement for the call for world peace.

Mike is well known for his passion for peace and his wonderful, giving ways with music. Mike recorded and released a CD entitled A Planet With One Mind in 1994. It had seven children's stories with Mike doing the spoken word. This fantastic CD can be purchased by visiting One Step Records by simply clicking here. Mike also recently recorded Peace Planet Proclamation which can be heard here. Through music and visuals, this proclamation calls for the world to claim the right to peace. Mike seems to find ways to spread joy and peace through music as a way of life.

One of the latest things that Mike Pinder has gotten involved in is something called Songwars. Mike carries on his tradition of giving to the planet by creating this new venture. Talented artists are invited to submit samples of their work and have it critiqued by outstanding individuals involved in the music industry. Songwars is a quarterly competition intended to help songwriters with guidance from music industry professionals.

Mr. Pinder created Songwars as a way to encourage artistic development. Through Songwars, every entry receives a valuable critique from music industry professionals. This highly valuable input can be a vital instrument in helping artists achieve their goals. Mike offers phone consultation time to the quarterly winners. Finalists and Winners are showcased on the website. The exposure artists gain from this experience could be priceless. Prizes are awarded and Winners are also added to the Songwars CD.

The musicians involved in Songwars receive invaluable feedback after submitting their work for review. They receive songwriting advice from industry pros that listen to the music with open minds and an ear for new talent. Celebrity judges are involved in choosing the winning entries. You can view the incredible list of celebrity judges that are involved with Songwars by clicking here. Anyone interested in getting their music critiqued can visit here to get details on how to submit their entries.

Mike got involved in this to help share joy and offer support to musicians and songwriters all around the world. He hopes to help new artists refine their talents and gain exposure for their art. By staying active in the music industry and nurturing his love of sharing through experience, Mike has provided a tool for new musicians to help carry them through their artistic journeys. The first three quarter winners have already been announced. You can view winners from each category by following the links posted on the Songwars site here.

2010 gives us the first chance to witness the outcome of this competition. We will be able to see if the winners move on to make a career in music. It will be interesting to see how far the finalists go with the knowledge and experience they gain through this venture. It will also be interesting to see how far this competition carries on and what new celebrity judges might be involved this year. The possibilites seem endless.

Mike has invented this tool for young artists to pass down his knowledge and his love of music. He states clearly that he has a passion for music development passed down through generations. He has written many songs proclaiming his spirituality and love of peace. He has never slacked off in his quest to help the people of earth live in a peaceful world. By reading some of the feedback left on the Songwars page, it is obvious that the efforts Mike Pinder has made have already paid off in countless ways.

It is incredible to see someone like Mike putting out so much time and energy to help struggling artists. He has managed to find a way to use his talents to give to the world in more than one way. Mike is a rock star that gives freely his time, experience, and vast knowledge of the workings in the music industry. With so many years in the music industry and so many charitable acts of kindness already given, Mike Pinder stands out as an incredible rock star and a leader in promoting peace and generosity through living it.
