Classic Video Games

Petro438
There are a number of "old-school" video games that can bring anyone back to life. I stumbled upon some classic games that I could play for hours and hours today.

Oregon Trail

There is something about this game that just gets the player hooked. As soon as you start playing, you just want to get across the Midwest from Missouri to Oregon. This game provides an excellent amount of entertainment value and replay ability. Once you journey across the country and stake a claim of land without dying, you can try to do it a different way. It is fun to try and take a small amount of money and survive. The game can also be extremely funny. I like to make my friends and see what happens. My friends and I have a good laugh when one of us drowns or gets bit by a snake (in a fun and joking way of course). You can get a kick out of playing this game for a few hours and should definitely try it out.

Backyard Baseball

I looked at my old team and saw the names Pablo Sanchez and Pete Wheeler at the top of my lineup. Seeing those two brought me years back. Backyard Baseball was the original baseball dynasty game. I loved piecing together a team and tinkering with the lineup to try and get the best results I could. Many other Backyard Sports' games were great in the day. My Backyard Soccer team was 126-1-1 and my Backyard Football team had a perfect season until the game froze every time I scored in the Super Bowl. Backyard games were the best sports games of their time and are just as fun as some modern games.

Mario Kart and Mario Party

I just could never get enough of this game. For hours, I would make the other drivers eat my dust in Mario Kart or dominate mini-games in Mario Party. Playing Mario Kart with four friends on a 100-inch projection TV was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. We went at it all night in races and battles, with myself coming out on top. Mario Party was one of those games that just did not get old. Because of the wide selection of mini-games, this board game style video game has tremendous replay ability. There are so many possible outcomes that relate directly to game results and your board decisions.

Pick up any one of these games and I guarantee that you will be hooked. It is nice to step away from the intense first-person shooters and next-gen sports games to go back in time and play some of these classics. These are not the only games that I can pick up and play today. Here are a few other vintage games that left their mark on the gaming world.

Notables

-Golden Eye- The original first-person shooter that opened the door for the future of shooters.

-Banjo and Kazooie- Great adventure game that is still fairly hard. That witch is so annoying.

-Blitz- The most unrealistic football game ever, but so much fun.

I agree I don't think Mario would never get old.
