Huw Lewis is a world-renowned organist from Wales who completed youthful musical training at the Royal College of Music in London and at Great Britain's Cambridge University. He came to the United States in 1972 to pursue advanced studies at the University of Michigan, and he opted to remain in the region and build a career. In addition to his concert performances, Huw Lewis serves as a music professor and official college organist for Hope College, and director of music at St. John's Episcopal Church in Detroit.
He will perform classical and religious songs in a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at First United Methodist Church of Birmingham, 1589 West Maple Road between Southfield and Cranbrook roads. Admission is $10.
