University of Florida
Students in the Classics Department at the University of Florida have two options in the undergraduate program, one focusing mainly on the Classical languages (Greek and Latin) and the other focusing on the ancient civilizations themselves. The former is designed for those who want to teach Latin or for those who wish to pursue graduate study in one of the ancient languages, while the latter is more suitable for those who simply want a broader humanities background. Although coursework varies for each concentration, students in the Classical Civilizations track are required to attain some proficiency in one or both of the ancient languages.
