Classy Accessories: Staples to a Timeless Wardrobe

Accessories are always a fun part of any outfit. Through our choice in accessories we really show the fashion world what we want our style to be. While bold, statement pieces are the perfect finisher objects for some outfits, more simpler, subtle accessories are best paired with other styles. "Simply classy" would probably describe one of the most timeless and versatile fashion styles of all time, and here are several affordable ways to accessorize any outfit that you want to fall into this category.

1. Dance with your pearls: While diamonds may scream of romance, glitz, and glamour, pearls whisper of classy times and taste. For a more modern take on this classy accessory, work in a long pearl necklace wrapped several times around your neck or tied into a loose "knot" at the bottom. For more subtle styling with the pearls, work with a dainty and shorter pearl necklace that just graces your collar bones. Pearl earrings (dangling for a more glamorous occasion, studs for a simpler style) are other great ways to employ pearl accessories into your classy style.

2. Tie up those scarves: More specifically, silk or other none-yarn scarves make lovely, classy accessories. Longer, rectangular Pashmina scarves are perfect for keeping yourself warm in the colder winter months when wrapped closely around your neck; these scarves can also be worn as classy accessories into the warmer months when the lighter silks are wrapped loosely around your neck/shoulders. Smaller, squarer silk scarves can easily be tied around your neck to add a classy touch to any simple outfit. (Yes, this style is seen by many as "grandmotherly," but I would have to argue that my grandmother was one classy woman!)

3. Rock a brooch/pin: Often overlooked but wonderfully affordable, brooches/pins can act as classy accessories to many outfits. Fix one onto your favorite cardigan for a more personalized styling of an otherwise fairly typical fashion staple. While I would suggest employing smaller pins to keep this style classy, I must admit that there are a few larger brooches that fall into the classy (and not tacky) category. Local vintage shops or Etsy are great places to shop for these lovely accessories.

4. Twirl that hair: Curls and pinned up twirls simply speak of classy styles. While the hair straightening/flat iron industry has obviously provided a market for stick straight hair, adding a few curls to your locks can add a classy twist to any outfit. If you feel that your hair will look to frizzy and wild curled, try pinning it up into a classy twist or knot. Either style (curled or pinned/twisted up) will speak a classy statement in today's world of straight hair and ponytails.
