1) The curly bob: A version of the fun, short bob hair cut, this way of styling your bob will add the appearance of having thicker hair-always a bonus. Since keeping thinner hair in curls (if they are not natural) can be more difficult, you will want to use a little bit of hairspray for this style. Using a curling iron on a gentle setting, curl sections of your bob haircut. Since the main purpose of this hairstyle is to add volume and a gently curled look, it is not necessary to curl every single section of your hair. Curling a few layers of the top of the bob, and all of the bottom layers should suffice. You will also want to focus your curling towards the front of your bob, where the hair is slightly longer around your face. Use light sprits of hairspray to hold your curls in place.
2) The pixie cut: The pixie is a very short hair style that works best with seniors who still have relatively thick (or just not extremely thin) hair. Cropped close to the head, the pixie can be styled best while still wet, with the help of a curling brush and hairspray. After towel drying hair, use the round curling brush and hair spray to tease your hair into almost "spiking" around your head (keep in mind to "spike" your hair in whatever direction your hair part runs; you don't want to be working against this part).
3) Long layered bob: While the traditional bob has very short layers in the back of the head around the neck, this "bob" leaves the hair a little bit longer and the average layer length is also longer. This is a great style for a senior who still wants to keep her hair somewhat longer, but still under shoulder length. For a more full bodied hair style with this layered bob, blow dry your hair instead of allowing it to air dry.
4) Long bangs: When most senior hair styles do away with bangs altogether, this hair style still leaves the hair short but keeps the bangs covering the forehead. (These are "side styled" bangs, not full on frontal bangs). LovetoKnow's senior hair styles tutorial explains that such bangs can help accentuate the wearer's eyes-always a plus. The rest of the hair in this style is blow dried for volume and curled loosely around the face.
5) "Updo:" Having short hair doesn't have to mean not getting to use any bobby pins anymore. This version of the more modern "poof" brushes all of the hair away from the face and uses hairspray and bobby pins to create the "poofed" look that adds the appearance of volume to the hair and height the head. The hairstyle can look very classy and glamorous when styled correctly.
