We all see the commercials on TV. The teenagers holding their bottles of Clean and Clear. So few of us over 30 think of going down the aisle to pick up a bottle and trying it.

Recently on a trip to Las Vegas I ran out of my usual face wash and was gifted by a flight attendent with a small tube of Clean and Clear Oil Free Deep Action Cream Cleanser.

Thinking "Its only for three days" I gave it a whirl. And ever since I have been a convert. This facial cleanser is now a staple in my arsenal when I travel. It seems wherever I go the water seems to make my face go haywire. But using this cleanser at night helps me to relax, unwind, and feel like I am taking the whole day off without stripping my face.

In fact in 2008 Self Magazine awarded this cleanser an "Healthy Beauty Award"

I know most of us hitting 30 or over are bombarded with advertisements telling us that we need cleansers with collagen, cucumber, and other items to fight the signs of aging. However speaking to my dermatologist friend she told me some sage words "You are putting this on your face for 3 seconds and washing it off. You want something that is going to go on, grab the dirt, and take it with it when it leaves, this does that and it doesn't dry your skin. It is all about finding a product you like."

I admit I would have never used a youth oriented product like Clean and Clear if I hadn't been handed a small tube by a wayward stranger.

Further, I looked up a list of ingredients and asked if they had changed since I had used Clean and Clear as a teenager 15 years ago. I was surprised and pleased to find out that they had tweaked the formula and added salicylic acid to the blend so cleanser had hydroxy acids for exfoliation.

Although this cleanser is not for skin that is dry I have eczema and have not had problems using it. I do use moisurizer as well. This cleanser has a noxema or cold cream like consistency. Which makes it perfect for use in the shower and great for travel.

This cleanser applies to a wet face easily, rinses easily, and has a faint scent that is not overpowering. It reminds me slightly of "Noxema" without the eye watering menthol burn. It leaves the skin with a tingly sensation without feeling tight. With most cleansers I use I utilize the toner "swipe test" it is where I cleanse my skin with a cleanser and then use a cotton ball soaked in dilluted toner/astringent to see how much debris remained.

I washed my face with the newest version of the Clean and Clear Deep Action Oil Free Cream Cleanser. Then I soaked a cotton ball in the toner/astringent solution and swiped. Using a clean cotton ball on each area I swiped my nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin. The only parts where there was any debris at all and that was faint was my chin and nose.

Since I incorperate a toner into my facial regimen on top of a scrub and lotion I wasn't deterred from giving this product a thumbs up, especially at a price of $6.50 for 9 ounces of cleanser.
