Try not to look at this as doing a chore. Put some music on and clean your way through the house, and before you know it, everything will be done, and looking spic and span.
Ways To Clean Your Blinds:
1. If you have plastic or metal blinds, then all you have to do is use the pre-moistened clorox or alcohol wipes, and run it over the slats until they are clean.
2. You can also use dryer sheets to do the same thing.
3. Try using a paint brush and vinegar. Just dip the brush into the vinegar, then brush the slats. This removes the dirt, while leaving your blinds sparkling clean.
4. When your blinds are really dirty, wet a sock, put a few drops of liquid soap on it, put the sock on your hand, and run it along the slats to remove the dust, dirt and grime.
5. If they just need dusting, put on a pair of cotton gloves, and run your fingers along the slats. This will remove the dust. When you're finished, just put the gloves in the wash and use them again.
6. Doing intensive dusting requires you to protect your windows with a towel, then clean them by using a can of compressed air. This method blows the dust onto the towel, then all you have to do is wash your towel.
Cleaning Your Bathtub:
1. Did you know you could clean your bathtub with hydrogen peroxide? Mix it with water, and the bubbling action cleans your tub and disinfects it.
2. When it comes to cleaning your soap dish, just get an old toothbrush, wet it, and dip it baking soda. Then scrub your soap dish clean. Toothbrush makes it easy to get in between any ridges the dish might have.
3. Clean and whiten your tub by using a powdered dishwasher detergent. Just make sure the type you get is the one that promises to make all your dishes and pots clean and sparkly. Wet your bathtub, then sprinkle the dishwasher powder in it. Wait about 10 or fifteen minutes, scrub any stubborn spots clean, then rinse.
It's the phosphates in the detergent that gets your bathtub so white.
4. You also want to clean the caulk around your bathtub. Do this by spraying the caulk with some of your rubbing alcohol. This small process kills the mildew, while killing the germs.
5. Another problem in bathrooms and bathtubs is mold. So after you shower or bathe, leave the door open, and the lights on until everything is dry. If the bathtub is dry, mold can't grow. The light and flow of air inhibits the growth.
Cleaning Your Kitchen Sink:
1. If your kitchen sink is really grimy, try pouring 1/2 cup of your powered dish washing detergent in it, and mixing in an amount of water that will create a paste. Take a sponge and spread the mixture over your sink. Wait about 15 minutes before you rinse.
2. If you have an enamel sink that is rather dirty and dull, then pour some hydrogen peroxide on a sponge and clean your sink. It's the foaming action that gets rid of the stains.
3. Use a sponge and some mouthwash to clean your sink. If the mouthwash has whitening ingredients, it will whiten and disinfect at the same time.
4. If all you need to do is shine your sink, then there are several ways you can do this. Try wiping it with olive oil, polishing with car wax or use a window cleaner.
5. Sometimes you may have trouble with mineral deposits forming on the faucet. Well spray with vinegar, let it stand for 15 minutes, then scrub all the residue away with your trusty toothbrush.
6. Have you ever thought about a bi-weekly or monthly treatment of alka-seltzer and vinegar to keep your drains running smoothly? All it takes is two tablets and a cup of vinegar to fizz away the grime in your drains. When you don't hear the fizzing anymore, flush the drain by running the hot water for about 2 minutes.
I hope cleaning the blinds, bathtub and kitchen sink has helped you. Especially those who are concerned about toxic cleaning supplies in our environment. We have access to a lot of of natural
cleaning solutions, all we have to do is think about it for a minute or two.
If you're not sure about something, try it anyway. My motto is experimenting is the best way of learning. Like cleaning your garbage disposal by running lemons through it.
