Clear Skin Diet: "Healthy" Foods that May Be Causing Acne

Tamiya King
You've been trying every type of skin-clearing product on the market for a healthy complexion-with no luck. It seems as though the skin regimen you're on will work for a few days or even months, and then comes to a standstill. How much money are you going to have to spend before you can be blemish-free? The answer may be in your grocery bill - read on to find out more.

Doctors have discovered that people in non-Western civilizations have cases of acne very rarely-even though many of these countries do not always have clean drinking water, and many of its citizens are not able to afford the best food in the country. Some areas, such as parts of Asia, Guinea, and Paraguay, have no reported cases of acne at all! Why is this? Many of these people do not eat lots of grains, and have a diet that is rich in red meats and vegetables. Further studies have proven that wheat, some forms of rye and barley, as well as beans and soy can clog the pores and cause breakouts. This is why some dermatologists are now suggesting that individuals who suffer from acne should try what is known as the 'Paleo diet'. This may also explain why so many vegetarians and vegans still have frequent blemishes, since these diets are considered to be the healthiest in Western civilizations.

If you've tried every product or eating regimen on the market, and still haven't found acne relief, a diet that is rich in green vegetables, as well as fruits and vegetables with color (yellow, red and orange produce is especially helpful), and meat may clear your skin up within a week. Fish and chicken that was not raised with any antibiotics is best, and you may want to get beef from a local butcher or farmer's market to make sure that the meat is the best quality. It is also a good idea to make sure that you stay away from refined sugars and dairy products, since sugar has been proven to clog pores, and milk contains hormones that aggravate the nerves and cells of acne sufferers.

Once you start the diet, you may want to keep a food journal so that you can keep track of all of your meals. Chart your progress for the first week especially; you may also notice that your energy level increases, and that feelings of depression or anxiety will lessen. If you have been following a vegetarian diet for a while, you will need to ease into the Paleo diet slowly; try eating fish about once a week, along with lots of fruits and veggies, and increase your servings of nuts like almonds or cashews for the first few weeks to get the protein that you need.

Following this diet could give you clear skin in just a matter of days-and you won't have to continue wasting money on products that don't work for you. For more information on this diet, as well as instructions on how to order the book, The Clear Skin Diet by Dr. Murad that will give you more information on why certain foods are bad for your skin, visit www.amazon.com or www.naturalacneremedy.com.
