Clearing the Air Part III

Rastafarian's!

Marlyn Lopes
Rastafarians! That's right. Nobody's safe. This would be a good spot for an "lol." Anyway, I've read the scriptures that you use to prove that Tafari Makonnen is "God" the Father, and His son, "Jesus," at his, I believe, 323rd appearance on the earth. That within itself is foolishness. Not to discredit the lineage of this late Ethiopian emperor, as it is widely believed among many Ethiopians that the Ras is the 225th descendant of Menelik I, alleged offspring of Solomon and Balkis, the Ethiopian queen of Sheba, of the "Songs of Solomon." Nevertheless, do we realize that as this family line of Solomon's was being established in Ethiopia, another was being established through Solomon's other son, Roboam? It was through Roboam that the lineage of Jesus is found, not Menelik I. Now, let's put this into consideration. Jesus was born 26 generations after Solomon. I'm sure that there is a name within the Ethiopian dynasty that can be found to be walking the earth at the same time Jesus was walking the earth. Maybe this man wasn't born 26 generations after Solomon, but even still, wouldn't this mean that Jesus was in two places at the same time? One, murdered for the sake of the world, and his Ethiopian "counter-part" continuing on with children of his own? This makes no sense whatsoever!

First of all, why would Jesus accept a title honoring himself as emperor of Ethiopia when he withdrew himself from becoming the earthly king of Israel, as according to John 6:15? You also have a tendency of reading scripture and molding it to fit your own manner of "faith." Example: Psalm 87:4 states, "I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there." What I find to be most convenient is that with all the nations mentioned in this verse, Rastafarians only recognize Ethiopia , and when it says, "this man was born there," they automatically associate the emperor of Ethiopia, Ras Tafari Makonnen, with this "man." Foolishness. And then, just because Marcus Garvey used Psalm 68:31 as his "so-called" battle cry, many people again associated this with Makonnen. Why does the understanding to this scripture elude people? "Princes shall come out of Egypt. Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto 'God'." It's obvious this scripture is referring to the converts of these nations to Jesus. Once again, too, Rastafarians ignore the part about Egypt, and just focus on Ethiopia being mentioned. Rastafarians, take heed. Just because a man is given a title mirroring that of the true Messiah doesn't mean this is prophesy fulfilled. Even Jesus warned us of the many people that will come in his name performing miracles, but yet, go unknown by Jesus. Even saying that Ras Tafari Makonnen is of the offspring of David makes no difference, because David had several sons, but only one was chosen for the lineage to where Jesus would spring from. Like the scriptures say about the "seed" of Abraham. This "seed" would come from Isaac only, not Isaac and Ishmael. And Jacob, not Jacob and Esau.

And Judah, not any of the other 10 tribes, or the half-tribes, the sons of Joseph. And David, not David and Eliab. And Solomon, not Solomon and Adonijah. And Roboam, not Roboam and Menelik I. Overstand? Seen? Seen. Oh yeah. Haile Sellassie was overthrown in 1975. Are we to believe this is in accordance with prophesy that says kings will "make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful?" Not at all. If this were the case, then the Branch Davidians must be considered as well, and every other sect that claims to follow these supposed Messiahs. David Koresh. Yahweh Ben Yahweh. Maitreya. Sun Nyung Moon. Jim Jones. Overstand? Seen? Seen.

I, again, have found myself at a point of continuance. My next chapter will be dedicated to the infamous Catholic Church. As said before, to be continued.....
