Cledus T. Judd Donates All Royalties to the PROTECT Organization

The very moving song titled "She's Going Places" which was written as a tribute to Caylee Marie Anthony is causing quite a stir across our country and has become one of the most requested songs on most radio stations today. Along with this song, which pays tribute to this precious little girl, the state of Florida has also passed a new law in her honor, "Caylee's Law". These measures bring honor to the slain child and will help preserve her memory.

Cledus T. Judd, one of the co-author's of the song, "She's Going Places", has donated all of his earned royalties to the PROTECT organization.

PROTECT

Established in 2002, PROTECT was first established as a bipartisan lobby. In 2004, PROTECT was changed to PROMISE to PROTECT , and is a pro-child, anti-crime membership organization. The National Association to Protect Children does not accept funding of any kind from the government, but rather functions solely on donations. Because PROTECT works in a legislative manner by helping to pass new laws in order to better protect children, PROTECT is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, which means donations are no longer tax deductible. "For too many years, the news media has focused almost exclusively on 'stranger danger' cases," said Grier Weeks, Executive Director of PROTECT. "Yet, over 90% of all child-abuse victims are hurt by adults in their own circle of trust."

Accomplishments of the PROTECT Organization

Over the years as I have written for Associated Content, I have included a number of articles about their accomplishments. One of the most notable laws that has been and is still being changed in the United States is what is commonly known as "The Incest Loophole". This law deals with strengthening the laws regarding incest victims. The former loopholes in the law provided for lesser charges against a blood relative who sexually abused a child. Strangers who sexually violated a child were dealt with much more harshly than a family member who chose to grow his/her own victim. Thanks to the hard work of the PROTECT organization, the laws are being changed state by state, making the crimes committed by those in the circle of trust of a child, punishable by much stronger laws.

Another wonderful accomplishment deals with the task force program, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC). The PROTECT organization has taken great strides as it has partnered with The Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the use of their specifically designed supercomputer, Jaguar. This supercomputer allows for the tracking of online pedophiles, leading law enforcement agencies right to the doorstep of those who victimize young children online.
