Cleveland Has Salsa Instructors!

It seems that the Salsa craze is everywhere these days-even in the Midwestern U.S. While that seems rather odd, it's not really. Salsa is more a lively spirit and a dance that uplifts and celebrates. With its Latin beat and its sassy rhythms, it can really be infectious. So no, the Midwest is not doomed to have everlasting polkas or rock and nothing else. There are actually some good Salsa instructors in the Cleveland and nearby areas. Most teach both group and private lessons and have lots of fun with get togethers after class at local clubs.

Cleveland Swing and Salsa offers six-week sessions of group and private dance instruction. One thing that's unique about this group is that they try to make their instruction as affordable as possible, and to that end they do not have contracts. You won't have to get locked into any long-term agreement here, which is something that many clubs and studios demand. They also teach some basic ballroom like Foxtrot, Rumba, Samba, Waltz and Cha Cha. If you like Salsa, you probably will want to learn some of these other Latin-inspired dance styles. Walk-ins will pay from $5-$20 per lesson for group instruction, but a five-week session for residents will cost only $49 and $54 for non-residents. The five-week classes take place at the Pepper Pike Learning Center on Orange Schools Campus. Call them for further information and updated instructions times and pricing. Swing Jam is another group that teaches Latin and Salsa in the Cleveland area. They like for people to come to their scheduled dances and consult with some teachers there or to contact Mineh Ishida at (216) 323-7170, or by Email at mineh@theswinjam.com. They are really a DJ group and they plan events with salsa music and promote local dancers, clubs and studios. As with the next instructor, Lali, people need to contact them and make appointments to schedule group or individual instruction.

Learn Salsa from Lali, a native Puerto Rican who teaches this and many more Latin-style dances, ballroom and even hip-hop to Ohio residents upon appointment. This lady does it all. She takes groups and arranges lessons for them or she will teach private lessons to people 12 years and up. She has recurring party sessions and dance and practice every second and fourth Saturday at Adam's Rib in Beavercreek. Nobody needs a partner and everyone's invited.
