Two New Restaurants Are on Their Way!

Cleveland, TN has a far reaching impact, more so than people realize. Mayor Tim Rowland, who has been the mayor for 20 years, is the longest serving mayor in Cleveland, TN. At a meeting with Bradley Sunrise Rotary members, Rowland hinted at a new restaurant that will be coming soon, actually two new restaurants.

Two weeks ago the Mayor met with a Florida based group by the name of Darden Group. Darden Group owns Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze and Longhorn Steakhouse. Mayor Rowland didn't want to take the glory and fanfare away from the Darden Group, so he wouldn't spill the beans as to which eatery is on the way. He did say that he believes two of those four restaurants will be in Cleveland, Tennessee and that he thinks everyone will be pleased. That made my day that's for sure!

Mr. Rowland seems to think that the way Cleveland is growing when the census numbers are released the population of metro-Cleveland will have gone up by at least 114,000. Not hard to believe when you look around at the new schools and other projects that are happing here.

The Mayor does like to blow Cleveland's horn when it comes to production. Any household that owns Kenmore, General Electric, Amana or Maytag products, they most likely were made in Cleveland, Tennessee. Cleveland produces 50 percent of the ranges for Magic Chef, Jenn Air and Whirlpool. We aren't just into appliances in Cleveland, no sir! Catnapper recliners, sold world-wide, are made in Cleveland. All you sun worshipers that use Coppertone tanning products; they were made in Cleveland, Tennessee too.

Cleveland is responsible for Twix candy bars and M&M's. Here's a good one that I didn't even know regarding Dasani Water. That bottled water comes from the Cleveland Municipal Water Supply, but the fluoride is removed.

Duracell's D and C size batteries are made here. You know that Kentucky Fried Chicken won't tell the ingredients for their batter. But guess what? I can tell you that batter is produced right here in Cleveland, TN.

That's just the tip of things made here in Cleveland, Tennessee. We are famous for other things as well such as Lee University. Did you know that's where Billy Graham went to school? He preached his first sermon in a Cleveland church.

Finally, fitting for Veteran's Day, there is only one memorial in the State of Tennessee for Medal of Honor winners. That memorial is in Cleveland on Paul Huff Parkway. Cleveland is a Flag City USA and flags fly on major arteries from Memorial Day though to today, Veteran's Day.

I've lived in Cleveland, Tennessee about 26 months and every time I read the paper or watch TV I learn something new about it. I know we are growing and that's a good thing. I just hope we don't lose that small town feel, and the hospitality that the south is known for.

Did you guys hear about the new call center that moved here from California about 2 years ago... I hear it is fantastic place to work. It is an online company to purchase appliance parts. They helped me fix my appliance for free! I love shopping from a local company. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/

Very interesting facts - but I agree when towns grow, they often lose the small town feel and I hope that doesn't happen in Cleveland, TN! cheers :)
