Clever Stocking Stuffers for Grandmas-to-Be: Use Gifts to Tell Her You're Pregnant

I feel that grandmas-to-be need special attention. If you are expecting a baby, and your mother or mother-in-law doesn't know yet, here are some great ideas for you to use as stocking stuffers. These items should be put in the stocking to give her little hints as she pulls them out. I feel that the biggest hint of all should be in the toe, so if she hasn't understood by the time she pulls out the last one, she will with it.

I would include simple little things that grandma's would have or do. I would start by putting in maybe a picture frame with a small photo of you when you were a baby. This is a unique gift that if she looks into it, she may get the idea. Small picture frames that are in antique style can be found anywhere.

This gift will give a hint without actually coming out and saying baby yet.

Another gift would be to place a skein of yarn in the stocking. It doesn't have to be a large skein, you can get small skeins for only about a dollar in most stores. I would choose either white or variegated with baby colors. This would be a subtle hint without coming out and pointing to baby.

Along with this a small book on crocheting or knitting baby booties or hats. You can even find patterns on the internet and you can print them off and make them into a booklet of your own. This idea is even better than having a thick book with a hard cover. This item points more directly at the baby, so this item should be in the bottom of the stocking.

You will also need to include a pair of knitting needles or a crochet hook. You can pass this off by saying things like you thought that with the house being empty she may want to try her hand at this. Or if she is good at this, she may not even think a thing about these items and go on.

A key chain that you can put pictures in would be another good choice. It doesn't have to say something like Grandma's pride and joy, it can say something else. You can also choose to get one shaped like a teddy bear if you can find one. Look in the jewelry section and in the automotive section or where you get keys made. There will be a wide selection to choose from if you look.

Another good gift for the stocking that would give a better clue would be a small digital camera. One that she can carry with her in her purse so that she can take pictures in a heart beat. This camera should be easy to use and it doesn't have to be fancy. A small screen is all that is necessary, and she can take snap shots when ever the need arises. Most small digital cameras like this come in little pouches, but if it doesn't, you can easily pick one up or buy a small makeup bag for a couple of dollars. This is a nice reasonable gift and she will have plenty of time to learn how to use it and get familiar with it before the baby arrives.

For that final gift. The one that will give her the clue if nothing else has, is a picture frame with that says "world's best Grandma" on it. When she gets to this, there should be no doubt in the hint that you have been dropping all along. It doesn't have to be a large frame, but the words will say it all.
