Silence annoying sounds
Sponges can be great for preventing annoying rattling from large appliances that are positioned up against walls. Simply take a dry sponge and insert it between the appliance and the wall, the sponge will absorb the vibrations when the appliance starts to vibrate causing it to rattle.
Use as a sealer
How many times have you dreaded sending off invitations for a party or a wedding because you hate licking the envelopes and stamps? Most stamps already have adhesive on them but most envelopes don't. To get those invitations out, get a sponge and place in inside a jar lid filled with water. The water will keep the sponge wet so you can just whisk the envelopes right over the sponge to wet them. Just seal and send off, it's really that easy.
Keep produce fresher longer
To keep your vegetables lasting longer, take a few wet sponges and place them in the vegetable drawer of your refrigerator. The wet sponges will help keep the vegetables from drying out and keep them fresher longer.
Keep pests away
If you have small children or pets in your home which are naturally curious, you should to steer clear of this technique; ammonia can be harmful to children and pets.
If you have a few unwanted critters and pests lurking around your home, here is an easy way to keep them away. Take some old sponges and soak them in ammonia and place them in the locations that the pests like to hide and hang out. The pests don't like the strong scent of ammonia and will stay clear of your property.
Create a soap sponge
Don't really know what to do with all the little slivers of soap that art too small to use? Here is an easy way to get great use out of them all. Take a sponge and cut a slit in the middle, now you have the perfect place to put the slivers of soap and you have a great sudsy sponge to clean and bathe with. No more wasting soap, and saves you money because you won't need to buy new soap as often.
These are just a few simple little things that you can do with ordinary sponges, next time you think of throwing away that sponge, keep it and you can always use it for something else.
