Who is Selling What Anyway?

Richard Block
"I can't see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report," director, Phil Jones writes. "Kevin and I will keep them out somehow -- even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!" this email was too Pennsylvania State University's Michael E. Mann and questions whether the work of academics that question the link between human activities and global warming deserve to make it into the prestigious IPCC report, which represents the global consensus view on climate science.

Now it's clear that the world is warming to some extent, but this email and many others like it certainly raise far more debate about the role of man made CO2 in that warming. I published an article several months ago using IPCC data that clearly indicates methane is far more damaging to the environment than CO2 which the IPCC largely ignores.

On a global basis we produce 100 times the amount of methane than we do of CO2, and methane is 21 times more potent a greenhouse gas than CO2, but Al Gore and his Nobel claim it's all CO2. The question I keep asking myself whenever I hear politicians and activist groups is who stands to gain?

Is it big business? Is it emerging markets? The bottom line is $$$$, regardless of whats being sold. With Al Gore CO2 was the bad guy and oil is the Anti Christ. Someone always has some agenda they are pushing and selling fear is real money maker.

The more someone makes you afraid of something the more willing you are to spend money because of that fear. That is how the stimulus package was passed, it was how a president convinced us to go to war. I wonder what will be the next fear sales job?
