Climbing the Clout Ladder Quickly: Tips for Building Your Library

Climbing the Clout Ladder Quickly: Tips for Building Your Library

Nina Rotz
I am often asked how I manage to write so much for Associated Content and how my Clout Level is high considering the length of my account. At the time of this article, I have been with Associated Content less than five months and my Clout level is 8. Eight out of Ten for a new Contributor is considered excellent, considering that I have not been with Associated Content long before reaching Clout 8. As a Contributor, I have also produced over 200 pieces of unique content. From personal writing experience, I have to say that reaching higher Clout Levels at Associated Content is as exciting as receiving daily page views and good upfront payments.

So how does a fairly new Contributor climb the Clout ladder quickly, and build a library of articles on various topics? I can only speak from my so far satisfying experience here at Associated Content. Perhaps my positive freelance writing experience will inspire you to build a library of quality content as well.

First, let me show you what Associated Content has given me as a new Contributor and a work from home mom;

Associated Content has allowed me a chance to write about subjects that interest me, and talking points that I as a writer wish to explore. What this company has given me is an online portfolio of published work, that I can provide to other businesses who may be interested in hiring me as a freelance writer. As a Contributor at Associated Content, I have a library of well written content that others can appreciate and learn from. I can also benefit from my previously published works, by showing potential employers the variety of writing topics that I can successfully cover.

Polishing Search Engine Optimization skills is difficult in an online world if you are trying to receive payment for it. Associated Content accepts newcomers and those just learning the ropes of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Here at Associated Content your first accepted article may not have web writing or SEO skill behind it, but Associated Content staff will fully support you in growth as a web writer and provide you with tools to learn. The tutorial library here has helped me learn what exactly my weaknesses were and how I could get better at Search Engine Optimization.

Of course, the most powerful tool of Associated Content are its Contributors. The Community of Associated Content welcomes everyone through social networking sites and their message board. Forum members of Associated Content answer questions of all new Contributors, even if the question has been asked a million times. It is truly a must for every newcomer to visit the forum and participate in the community. As a new Contributor, I came to the forum with questions and help requests. After nearly five months there, I find myself answering questions of those Contributors who joined at a later date.

Five ways a new Contributor can climb the Clout ladder quickly, and build a library of sought after content;

Write Often and Write Well
Writing often and writing well may seem like a common suggestion to make to a newcomer. However, Associated Content will pay a new Contributor for every piece of content that meets submission guidelines. As a newcomer, I did not have the necessary Search Engine Skills, but I did have good English and grammar skills. My articles were well written, and well accepted by Associated Content staff. The acceptance of my articles motivated me to write often about subjects that interest me.

The submission of the first article is always the most stressful one, as you try to pick a good topic and produce a good piece of content. Start by covering personal interests, because personal stories make unique content that Associated Content desires. Set personal writing goals, or the desired number of articles you would like to produce each day. My personal writing goals at Associated Content were to cover 10 articles a day. A personal writing goal can even be the amount of money you wish to make on daily or monthly basis here at Associated Content. Remember, that you will be paid for every well written piece of content produced that meets submission guidelines.

Learn SEO and Ad Alignment
So who is this mystical creature known as SEO and how do I find it? Search Engine Optimization can be explained in complicated technical terms or simple writing terms that most of us will understand. For obvious reasons, I choose the latter. There are several ways to write articles for Associated Content that will be considered optimized for search engines. A well written, catchy title that is relevant to the article is very important. Also, keywords you choose to write about should be something that visitors will type into a search engine and find your article. Another important tip for new Contributors is that the entire article you write will be indexed by search engines such as Google. A 400 word minimum article that is required by Associated Content can be a well written, search engine gold mine.

Search engine and ad alignment should be relevant to every article submitted, however do not let this stress you away from submitting content. Associated Content allows all newcomers enough time to polish their writing and SEO skills, and allows every writer to grow into a successful Contributor.

In the beginning of your writing career at Associated Content, concentrate on well written pieces with proper grammar and English skills. As your writing comfort grows, attempt to research SEO tactics and place them with every new article submitted. Search Engine writing is an important key to growth at Associated Content, higher upfront offers and additional payments for page views.

Gain Page Views Daily

What are Page Views and how do I get more? This is a commonly asked question in the Associated Content forums. Page Views is an innovative way by Associated Content to reward their writers, it is a payment given on top of upfront offers for having your work read by online visitors.

To receive more page views for articles a new Contributor will need to adapt to Search Engine Optimization writing, this is what allows visitors to find your article amongst thousands of other articles on the same topic. Obviously, no one will come read that excellent piece of content written if they are unable to locate it on the world wide web.

Another way to receive higher page views is to promote articles through several methods provided by Associated Content. Through their help pages, I utilized all suggested methods provided which were also free of charge. All of these promotional tools such as Twitter and StumbleUpon are again completely free to use, and will produce article views. Associated Content also encourages its new Contributors to learn about the world of blogging and promoting their web publishing works through personal blogs.

Through free ways of promoting my work, as well as Search Engine Optimization, I am able to receive a minimum of 500 views per day. This number of page views is on the slowest of days, even those when I am unable to submit new articles.

Get Writing Ideas from Assignments
Picking up Assignments is a great way to learn SEO and to find out exactly what Associated Content is asking from its Contributors. On the days when I experience writer's block, I pick up one of the assignments available on my Contributor page. The assignment ideas by Associated Content are usually timely relative and popular search topics.

By picking up an assignment, a new Contributor is able to see the submission requirements wanted for that specific article. A great way to start learning SEO from Associated Content is by looking at the keywords and key phrases wanted in that specific article. Most assignments come with upfront offers, and great submissions are often featured. Having a well written article featured by Associated Content will also bring the Contributor more views, which in turn means more money and higher Clout level.

Cover Popular Topics
Google Trends is a great way to get higher page views and cover popular topics that web users are looking for. A Google Trends is no always a sure hit though, as other Contributors could be covering those same timely relevant topics. Arts&Entertainment articles usually do well in page views, as the latest celebrity and entertainment news is often found on Google's list of trend searches.

By covering popular topics, you as a Contributor show the skill to cover timely news and topics that are in demand. Also, showing high page views on popular topics show that you have the necessary SEO tactics to have your articles placed high on search engine lists.

In closing, Associated Content is a great place for new Contributors to come and make money by writing articles. Besides its monetary benefits, Associated Content can offer you a library of content that can be used as an online portfolio. With its great member community, Associated Content will help you learn the necessary web writing tactics and grow as a SEO writer.

From personal experience as an Associated Content Contributor, higher page views and a growing number of well written articles will give you higher Clout levels.

Never stop writing, find inspiration in daily activities, cover popular search topics and learn web writing tactics for success at Associated Content.

    Gosh NIna, this article answered everything I've been wondering about lately! I've got one question if you can help me with it though.....The yahoo people suggested that in my articles, I have bold, underlined keywords. Now, I know how to put in links to websites like...www.whatever.com but how does a writer get those blue underlined words in those articles? HELP a sister out!
