Clinique High Impact Mascara: Dramatic or Just Average Lashes?

As someone who has short, sparse, flat lashes, I am always on the hunt for a new and better mascara that can length and add some extra boost to my lashes. Recently, I came across Clinique's High Impact Mascara and as a huge fan of Clinique's facial cleansing products, I thought why not give this a try?

Since the first time I have tried this I have been very impressed by the volume that it instantly adds to my lashes. However, its lash lengthening factor, I was not too impressed with. The color of the mascara is very rich and definitely adds definition to my eyes. This is great for layering or being used as the final topcoat on you lashes after you apply cheaper mascaras to finish off you lashes with a richer hue. The good thing is that this mascara works its wonders immediately with the first application from the tube. For some reason I have noticed that most mascaras I have tried have to be used a few times before the magic appears. Maybe it is because I prefer thicker mascaras and most mascaras come out to thin or liquid-like at first.

This mascara comes in 2 colors: black and brown. Here is the downside - one individual retails for $14 a tube! Yes, for higher end makeup brand, that price tag is considered meager, but compared to drugstore brand mascaras that generate similar results as this mascara, than this price is a fortune. This mascara can be purchase at Clinique boutiques in departments stores such as Macy's and Nordstrom, beauty specialty stores such as Sephora and ULTA, individual mall kiosks, and online via Clinque's own website and Sephora's online website. I would say if you are aiming for a mascara that is rich in color and want a bolder and more voluminous effect, then spend the little extra money and try this mascara out. If you have short and sparse lashes like me, stick with the drugstore versions such as Maybelline's "Falsies" or "The Colossal". Those will provide the sufficient need of volume and length for half the price.
