The first I will review is Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover. This was given to me as a gift, as I normally don't need department store brand products as my skin is fairly normal and, on most days, uneventful meaning it does not react to lesser products. But I was out of my regular brand conveniently when I got this stuff, so was happy to try something else. This is a very nice makeup remover, and so gentle. This product is meant to be used under the eyes and over the lips. It is oil and water based for ease of removal. And it is very gentle. It comes in a clear bottle and the liquid itself is a lavender color, the initial appearance just from how it sits in the bottle is oily. Shake before use, put a little on a cotton ball and gently wipe the mascara from your eyes. It comes off very quickly. Clinique describes this as totally tugless, and they are right. The makeup will literally just wipe right off. The one drawback is there is a bit of an oily residue left on your skin, but you can blot that off very quickly. Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover is also allergy tested and fragrance free, so if you are sensitive, you won't have problems with this one. I have no complaints about the quality of Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover, it does exactly what it says it does, and well. Now, if I was just going by price, I may not pick this one up first because it runs for about $15 a bottle. But, if you wear a lot of makeup frequently, it is worth it. I got mine about 6 months ago and use it almost every day and you can barely notice a dent in the bottle.
My old standby however has always been Yves Rocher Eye Makeup Remover with Chamomile, and for almost $3 a bottle from the website, you can't really go wrong. It works almost identically to the Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover. Very gentle, the makeup comes off extremely fast with very little effort. The lotion is so gentle because it is enriched with Chamomile which is always a nice thing to put on your face. Particularly in those sensitive eye zones. It is fresh and non greasy so you will not get the oily residue that you do with Clinique. And it doesn't sting your eyes. The only thing that I noticed since I started using the Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover was that the Yves Rocher Eye Makeup Remover with Chamomile has a tendency to use up much faster than the Clinique brand. I typically bought the Yves Rocher product probably every two months or so. So maybe the cost works out to be about the same amount.
Either way, both products work beautifully for me, but one is noticeably more affordable than the other.
