In the last couple of weeks it seems like Clinton Hill has been the hotspot for car crimes.

It all started on October 18 with, not one but two, car break-ins in the neighborhood. The first occurred shortly after 6:30 PM when a common thug broke into a Ford van parked on Lafayette Avenue between Carlton and Adelphi. The thief got away with a laptop computer and fled in a Crown Victoria. There was a witness, but all he did was watch.

Later that same night just after 9:00 PM, a 2007 truck parked along South Elliott Place was broken into. This time, the driver's side window was smashed in and the perp got away with a navigation system.

The owner of another Ford van didn't fare so well on October 22. Two cans of Freon and some tools were taken from the vehicle which was parked on Willoughby Avenue near Pratt Institute shortly after 9:30 AM. The culprits forced open the van door.

Another laptop and GPS system was taken on October 24 when the owner of a 1995 Honda left them in plain view on South Elliott Place between Hanson and Atlantic. The crime happened just after 11:00 AM.

If these recent car crimes teach you anything it might be to keep any of your valuables out of plain sight!
