Clinton Hill Community Garden Rules Announced
Neighborhood: Clinton Hill
Brooklyn, NY 11201
United States of America
The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation finalized its rules for the city's community gardens on September 13. Activists have been diligently fighting for protection from developers. Clinton Hill and Fort Greene are home to several gardens. The fate of the Ingersoll Garden of Eden, Brooklyn Bears Gardens and Hollenback Community Garden was in limbo until a change in the city's rules was made.

The new rules state that gardens are protected as long as they are registered and licensed by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. The gardens must also satisfy the city's criteria and new gardens will have the same rights as existing gardens. This is exciting news for the community and organizations, such as the New York City Community Garden Coalition, that helped fight for Clinton Hill's Gardens. More information on finding a local garden can be found at the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation GreenThumb site.
