Everyone loves a good block party, right? Well, the WA-GREENE Block Association will hold its first street fair Saturday, Sept. 18, which will be known as Septemberfest. The fun lasts from noon until 6 p.m.

The block association has been active since 1973 and has decided to host the event in light of some recent accomplishments. One of the most recent feats achieved by the association is the result of the WA-GREENE's 2009-2010 campaign to the DOT. They successfully got a new speed bump installed in front of PS 11 on Washington Avenue. Additionally, new truck route signs have been posted to prevent trucks from using that same street illegally.

The street fair will be more than just a little fun for the locals. Everyone will get the chance to become more familiar with local businesses and can support those companies on Fulton Avenue between Vanderbilt and Classon. The Green Hill Food Co-Op will also be on hand to sign up new members.

Bring the whole family. There will be food, fun, inflatable rock climbing and face painting! Stop by on Saturday to spend some time with the neighbors and get involved in the community.
