DOT is considering reducing the speed limits from 30 mph to 20 mph in both Clinton Hill and Fort Greene. According to the DOT's Pedestrian Safety Report, this change could reduce traffic fatalities. Another proposed plan to deter speeding is to install bike lanes to reduce the width of streets.
The city has already started installing street bumps near schools to slow down drivers. In addition to these agenda items, DOT plans to increase its efforts with advertising campaigns, public information and by collaborating with NYPD on enforcement.
