Clinton-Washington Station Crimes

The Clinton-Washington train station has been the scene of several muggings all in the same week. Could Clinton Hill and Fort Greene have a serial subway mugger hanging out near the Lafayette and Washington turnstiles?

It seems likely. In all three attacks the suspect was male and had the same M.O. - wielding a knife to get what he wanted.

On October 26 a 22-year-old woman was mugged at 5:50 PM by a thug that jumped out at her demanding her wallet. The victim noticed the suspect at the foot of the stairs as she entered the station. She didn't get far as he trapped her in the turnstile.

The next day, October 27, what seems like the same thief hit a 53-year-old woman in the back of the head as he ripped her purse off her shoulder. The attack happened at 6:53 PM.

A third attack happened at the same station on October 29. A 28-year-old woman entered the station at about 9:40 PM when the thief grabbed her at the turnstile. Shoving a knife in her face he made off with her personal property.
