One of the great masters of horror, Clive Barker, shall once again have his intense creativity exhibited upon the movie screen. Just announced are the intentions of releasing several movies in a series based off of Barker's "Books of Blood" story collections. These future films along with four other projects he is already associated with means fans will be getting many twisted treats indeed.

Clive Barker, a book author, artist, screenwriter, director, producer, and sometime actor is most popularly known for his film contribution Hellraiser, even though he was the creative force behind the Candyman horror series as well as the cult hits Nightbreed and Lord of Illusions. He was also the mastermind behind the video game Undying. Barker is set to next direct the project: Tortured Souls: Animae Damnatae based off a novella he wrote for the Todd MacFarlane toy figure line. However, there are numerous projects being helmed by other directors based off of Barker's writings currently in the works such as: The Thief of Always and a remake of his infamous film Hellraiser; with Barker doing the screenplay. Midnight Meat Train is yet another film coming that is based off of a Barker story that originated in the "Books of Blood" series. The producers behind Midnight Meat Train have great plans for furthering the works of Barker.

Seraphim Pictures is helping oversee the development of Midnight Meat Train, which will be distributed by Lionsgate films. Executive producers Joe Daley and Anthony DiBlasi, both from Seraphim, say that five or six more of the Clive Barker "Books of Blood" stories have already been adapted in some form to screenplays and they will seek to get each of those made as well. The two stories set to follow "Meat Train" are entitled: The Book of Blood and Pig Blood Blues. There are plenty of stories to be found in the six volumes of the book series, which is indeed where Candyman, Lord of Illusions, Rawhead Rex, and his section of Quicksilver Highway originated from. Therefore, there are loads of film possibilities because Clive Barker has one of the most respected creative minds in the business; whether it is popularly known or not.

Midnight Meat Train will star Bradley Cooper, Vinnie Jones, and Leslie Bibb in the story about a New York photographer hunting down a serial killer. The Book of Blood and Pig Blood Blues; which is a supernatural mystery involving a possessed pig, are set to begin casting soon with other preparations planned in a five month time period.

All of this activity with Clive Barker material is wonderful news for his fans and quite possibly for those who are not yet familiar with his work the chance to witness the workings of a mind unlike any other will be at hand. Barker's works are all strikingly original and different and in a crowded horror movie market such as the one today all of the people working hard to bring these pictures to life will be looking to stand out.
