Cloris Leachman Releases Autobiography; Plus, Alexis Denisof and Alyson Hannigan Are Parents

Sad News for Whedon Fans; 'New Moon' Cast Grows

This week finds "Dancing with the Stars" alum Cloris Leachman releasing a book about her life before she revived her career with the reality show. There is happy and sad news for fans of Joss Whedon's wildly popular series, "Buffy" and "Angel," and in little extras, André 3000, puts himself in a life or death situation and the "New Moon" cast expands to welcome another leading man.

Cloris, A New Book and Her New Career

Cloris Leachman has been a familiar face these days and her new autobiography "Cloris" will explain why. The book, which will be published April 7, chronicles the life of the 82-year-old actress, her romantic flings (Gene Hackman!), her friendship with Marlon Brando and the resurrection of her wonderful acting career, which includes nine Emmys and an Academy Award.

That resurrection, in case you forgot, includes her stint as the oldest contestant ever on DWTS, hiring her son George Englund Jr. as her manager, a hilarious stint on "The Office," and her one-woman comedy show. The book is full of laughs and serious moments, but it is completely Cloris.

Now the Good and Bad News for Whedonites

First the good news:

"Buffy" and "How I Met Your Mother" star Alyson Hannigan got a great birthday present this year: daughter Satyana Denisof. She and husband (also a "Buffy" and "Angel" alum) Alexis Denisof welcomed the baby on March 24th, Hannigan's birthday.

And as writers always say, for every birth, there is a death.

"Angel" alum Andy Hallett who played the lovable, singing demon Lorne ("the Host") sadly passed away of heart failure March 29th at the age of 33. The actor had apparently struggled with heart disease for five years. Hallett was a favorite of Joss Whedon fans as the green demon, who helped Angel during investigations and headlined his own demon bar. Some of the songs he sang as Lorne appeared on the "Angel: Live Fast, Die Never" soundtrack in 2005.

From this Whedonite to the actor's family: Hallett was a wonderful talent and will be greatly missed.

Little Bits: New Moon Cast Grows and André 3000 Gets Dangerous

Former Sweeney Todd singing swooner Jamie Campbell Bower is the newest addition to the Twilight sequel. Bower will be playing Caius, the leader of the Volturi, an Italy-based group of vampires, alongside actress Dakota Fanning. While some think that he may be unable to steal the spotlight from Robert Pattinson, I hope he does. Pattinson can't have all the fun!

OutKast rapper André 3000, or André Benjamin, was arrested last week for speeding just a little. OK, a lot. According to police, they clocked the rapper driving 109 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone in his 2007 Porsche Carrera.

The reason for the rush? According to police, Benjamin told them that he had missed his exit on the way to a birthday party and was trying to turn around. He was arrested and released on $1,200 bail.

Must have been an incredibly important birthday party.
