Where are you?
Where have you gone?
Did I just imagine you
Or hear about you
In the words of a song?
Where have you gone?
Did I just imagine you
Or hear about you
In the words of a song?
I felt you
Or thought I did.
You've been inside of my heart
Always dwelling there
Since I was just a kid.
Why leave now?
What did I do?
Is it something that I said
Without any thought
That's led to losing you?
I need you!
I always will.
Without you here by my side
Life is just empty,
Quiet; forever still.
Please come back!
That I implore.
I'll not survive without you;
With my tomorrows
Inside a closed door.

Such a moving poem. Beautifully written.
Julia, you may have hit on something. I have been thinking about my mother a lot recently -- my real mother, not the shell that Alzheimer's has left behind. Perhaps the poem came from that emotion deep inside. Either way, I'm not sure the words are ever mine directly. They come like a gift to me.
